TRENTON, Neb. -- Gordon J. Marquette, age 81, of Trenton, passed away at the Community Hospital in McCook, Nebraska, on June 5, 2014, surrounded by his family.

Gordon was born in Sutherland, Nebraska, on July 3, 1932, to George and Celia (Bodell) Marquette. He attended and graduated from Paxton High School.

Gordon was united in marriage to Bonnie Meyen on April 10, 1954, at Sutherland. The family moved to Trenton in 1968. Gordon was a contractor specializing in concrete work. He enjoyed his calves and sports, following his children and grandchildren's events. He was a member of the Trenton Booster Club and a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church. Gordon will be remembered as a devoted family man, a hard worker, a good friend to many adults and children of the Trenton community.

Gordon was preceded n death by his parents; son: Randy Marquette; sister: Bonnie Tipley and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Marquette.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of 60 years; two daughters, Nancy and husband, Tom Hashman of West Chester, Pennsylvania and LeAnn and husband, Dan Jankovits of Culbertson; son, Brian and wife, Denise Marquette of Sutherland: six grandchildren, Kevin and Chrystal Marquette, Casey and Katie Trembly, Michelle and Cody Levison, Jessica Jankovits, Cody Jankovits, Breanna Hashman and Patrick Shannon-Hughes; five great-grandchildren; and twin brother, George Marquette of Paxton, Nebraska.

Visitation was at Herrmann-Jones funeral Chapel in Trenton on Saturday, June 7, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Rosary was recited at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton on Sunday, June 8, 2014, with Father Lothar Gilde officiating. Mass of Christian Burial was today, June 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. Gordon selected cremation and a private family inurnment will take place at a future date.
