CLAYTON, Kansas -- James "Jim" Austerman, 55, died Sunday (May 18, 2014), at his home.
He was born March 25, 1959, in Norton, Kansas, to Reynold Rex and Caroline (Gasper) Austerman. He attended Lenora High School and North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit.
He married Dellene Van Waning on July 29, 2003, in New Almelo, Kansas. He worked for Nex-Tech in Lenora.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his father, Reynold "Rex" Austerman,
Survivors included his wife: Dellene Austerman of Clayton; mother, Caroline Austerman of Norton; sons, Nicholas Austerman of Hoxie, Kansas and Miles Austerman of Lawrence, Kansas; step-sons, Scott and wife, Kimberly Brown of Skiatook, Oklahoma; step-daughter, Kelly Brown (James Fawcett) of Norton; sister, Letha Austerman of San Diego, California; two step-sisters, Ruth and husband, Dan Greenwood of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Viola Hamilton of Lawrence; and seven step-grandchildren.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Almelo with the Rev. Vincent Thu Laing officiating. Interment is at St. Joseph Cemetery in New Almelo.
Vigil service is Thursday, May 22, 2014, 8 p.m. at St. Joseph Parish Hall, New Almelo. Visitation is Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. until service time at the parish hall.
Memorials may be given to Sheridan County Benefit Walk Foundation or James Austerman Memorial Fund.
