McCOOK, Neb. -- Leota B. Jordan, age 80, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

Leota was born May 16, 1933, in Decatur County, Kansas, to parents Virgil and Elsie (Horn) Cochran. She was one of five children. She attended school in Oberlin, Kansas, graduating from Oberlin High School in 1951.

Leota married David W. Jordan on Sept. 4, 1953, in Oberlin, Kansas. To this union two children were born, Randy and Nora.

Leota was an avid collector of dolls and Hot Wheel Cars. She also enjoyed going to auctions and watching South Park on television.

Leota was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; two sisters, Wilma Mott and Neva Province; brother, Leonard Cochran and two infant twin brothers.

Leota is survived by her daughter, Nora Powell of Omaha, Nebraska; son, Randy (Darla) Jordan of McCook; grandchildren, Jody (Sean) Kelly of Bartley, Nebraska, David (Heather) Jordan of McCook, Jesse (Kelly) Jordan of Stillwell, Kansas, Randy F. Jordan of McCook, Michael (Nicole) Jordan and son, Jacob of McCook, Clay (Bryn) Jordan and their children, Jaxyn, Corbyn and Brekkan Jordan of Loomis, Nebraska and Jordan Powell and Tiffany McGinnis of McCook.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 8, 2014, from 1-8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Burial will follow in the Oberlin Cemetery in Oberlin, Kansas.
