Felony drug charges filed after recent raid

McCOOK, Nebraska -- Four individuals are each facing a felony possession of methamphetamine charge after several law enforcement agencies raided a West Third Street residence earlier this month.

Twenty-nine-year-old Thomas R. Ortiz, 34-year-old Kevin M. Gerih, 37-year-old Christina F. Lopez and 27-year-old Colette F. Burns are each facing one Class IV felony for possession of methamphetamine and an infraction for possession of drug paraphernalia, as a result of the early morning raid.

The charges filed in Red Willow County Court match what the individuals were arrested on, with the exception of Ortiz.

Arresting officers sought additional offenses for Ortiz including unlawful possession of explosive material; felony possession of a destructive device; possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person; felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver; and misdemeanor offenses for manufacturing drug paraphernalia and possession of a legend drug.

The raid and subsequent arrests occurred at 7:30 a.m. on April 17 at the Ortiz residence, a basement apartment at 901 W. Third, according to court documents.

Bond for Ortiz was set at $50,000, subject to 10 percent, and he is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in county court at 10:30 a.m. on May 8, 2014.

Bond for Gerih was set at $15,000, subject to 10 percent, and he is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in county court at 4 p.m. on May 27, 2014.

Bond for Lopez was set at $10,000, subject to 10 percent, and she is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in county court at 3 p.m. on May 8, 2014.

Bond for Burns was set at $10,000, subject to 10 percent, and she was ordered to reside with her father at all times. Burns is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in county court at 3:30 p.m. on May 29, 2014.
