BEAVER CITY, Neb. -- Marjorie L. West, 87, died Monday (April 28, 2014), at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Holdrege, Nebraska.

She was born Aug. 28, 1926, at Norton, Kansas, to Forest and Doris (Reed) Sapp. She attended high school in California and Wilsonville, Nebraska. After her schooling, she married Wendell West on Aug. 28, 1944, at Norton. They moved to Beaver City, Nebraska, and farmed until the early 1960s.

She worked at the ASCS office and the Furnas County welfare office, both in Beaver City. She was a member of First Christian Church of Beaver City and later attended Faith Community Church of Beaver City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wendell; grandson, Tory Dean Buffington; sister, Marie Yeager and brother, Lloyd Sapp.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon and husband, Ron Buffington of Olathe, Kansas; sister, Beth Beins-Fry of Holdrege; brother, Butch Sapp of Wasilla, Alaska; one grandchild, five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are Friday, May 2, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Mount Cemetery of Beaver City with the Rev. Keith Theobald officiating.
