OBERLIN, Kan. -- Earl J. Brown, 102, died Tuesday (April 22, 2014), at Decatur County Good Samaritan Society in Oberlin.

He was born Dec. 18, 1911, in Decatur County to Charles "C.C." and Anna Rose (Woolley) Brown. He grew up on a farm in the Sappa Township southwest of Oberlin. He attended Plainview School and graduated from Decatur County High School in 1931.

He married Zola F. Maggard on Nov. 17. 1945, in Oberlin.

He was a cattle feeder and resided on the family farm southwest of Oberlin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Zola; parents, Charles "C. C." and Anna Brown; brothers, Floyd, Harold, Ralph and Harry Brown; sisters, Mary Alderson, Lena Simpson, Verna Quinlisk, Betty Smith and his twin, Merle Atherton.

Survivors include sons, Steve and wife, Barbara Brown of rural Selden, Kansas and Dr. Ward and wife, Sarah Brown of Leawood, Kansas, and three grandchildren.

Services are Monday, April 28, 2014, 2 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Judy Sticker officiating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday, 1-8 p.m. and Monday, 8 a.m. until service time, at Pauls Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to the Decatur County Good Samaritan Society.
