John Steven Foster

CAMBRIDGE, Nebraska -- John Steven Foster, 63, died Saturday (April 19, 2014), at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 15, 1950, at Cambridge, Nebraska to Loyal and Winifred (Sexton) Foster.

He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1968. He was united in marriage to Charlene Shatto in May of 1974. In 1968, he started working as a parts man for Johnson Inc. implement dealership in Cambridge. He worked for Watson-Mueller-Jones dealership starting in 1976 until 1984 when the dealership closed. He later worked at Curley Olney's in McCook, Nebraska. For 34 years, he was a volunteer fireman, and for 32 years, as a volunteer EMT for Cambridge Fire and Rescue Squad. In 1991, he was inducted into the Cambridge Volunteer Hall of Fame.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Charlene in 2012.

Survivors include children, Linnea and husband, Travis John of Gering, Nebraska, Thomas and wife, Cindy of High Point, North Carolina, and Tristan of Kearney, Nebraska; sister, Alice and husband, Darrell Wulf of Cambridge; brother, James and wife, Bev Foster of Lexington, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Paul Shatto of Bushnell, Florida and three grandchildren.

Funeral services are Friday, April 25, 2014, at 11 a.m.at the United Methodist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Jeff Wolf officiating. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge.

Viewing and visitation is Thursday, April 24, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Cambridge with family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
