Betty Lee Clapp

June 30, 1933 - April 12, 2014

McCOOK,Nebraska -- Betty Lee Clapp was born June 30, 1933, in Red Willow County (St. Ann) to John Francis and Edna Charlotte (Blake) Dike. She lived on a farm northeast of McCook. She became a homemaker at a young age.

Betty was united in marriage on Dec. 12, 1950, to Clifford Clapp Sr. They lived in McCook all their life. Clifford served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean Conflict.

Cliff had become a carpenter at a young age with his dad. In 1960, Betty and Cliff started building their dream home on Ravenswood Road. They were blessed with two daughters and two sons and became grandparents to 10 grandsons and two granddaughters.

Betty had many hobbies, including cake decorating and sewing and she loved to garden and care for her yard and flowers. She belonged for many years to the Ravenswood Club. Cliff and Betty belonged to Family Frolics Square Dance Club for 30 years. They also enjoyed ballroom dancing and family ball games. After Cliff passed away in April of 1999, Betty continued caring for the castle Cliff built for them.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John Dike and Edna Vontz and step-father, Joe Vontz; her husband, Cliff; a grandson, Travis Harsh in October of 1999; four sisters, June Peters, May Hill, Helen Young and Patty Meguire and a brother, Loren.

Survivors include her children, Clifford Clapp Jr. and wife, Trish, Pam Harsh and Kent Clapp and wife, Michelle, all of McCook and Christy Dyer and husband, Bart of Flowery Branch, Georgia; grandchildren, Kyle, Kelly and Kris Clapp; Brett, Nathan and Gavin Harsh; Bryan, Brandon and Brady Dyer and Trace and Chelsie Clapp; and six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Betty will reunite in heaven with Cliff and grandson Travis and many others. This has been our life of 48 ½ years together. We wish our family much good health and happiness in their lives together. Farewell to our families, friends and neighbors.
