McCOOK, Nebraska -- Leland L. Kleckner, age 70, of McCook, died at his home on April 11, 2014. He was born in Rawlins, Wyoming, on Sept. 18, 1943, to Oliver and Mardell (Doty) Kleckner.

In July of 1968, he was married to Elisabeth Wederski in Fremont, Nebraska. The couple moved to Colorado, until they moved to Nebraska in 1996.

Leland was employed as a carpenter at a trailer house factory, he worked as a mechanic and had worked as a chef helper in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Leland collected clocks, working and rebuilding cuckoo and other clocks that were not operating. He had volunteered at the Toy Box in McCook rebuilding bikes and repairing other toys for Christmas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oliver; brother, Eugene; and brothers-in-law, Richard Ringler and Jerry Little.

He is survived by his wife, Elisabeth of McCook; three daughters, LeAnne (D.C.) Kleckner of McCook, Sara Kleckner of McCook and Sandra Kleckner of North Platte, Nebraska; son, Leland Kleckner, Jr. of McCook; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother, Mardell Kleckner of Columbus, Nebraska; four brothers, Kenneth(Loretta) North Bend, Nebraska; Ronald (Rose) of Monroe, Nebraska; Tim of Las Vegas, Nevada; Dennis (Benita) Columbus, Nebraska; two sisters, Caroline Ringler, Las Vegas, Nevada and Joyce Little of Springfield, Missouri.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 18, 2014, 10: a.m. at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bonnie Forney officiating. Interment will be in the Garden Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, from 2 to 6 p.m. and Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Memorials may be left in Leland's name or to the American Diabetes Association.
