Laurene 'Laurie' Marie Tucker

Sept. 9, 1961 - April 1, 2014

LONGMONT, Colorado -- April 1, 2014, marks the day we lost the most unique of mothers, a daughter, sister and friend.

Laurie was born Sept. 9, 1961, in McCook, Nebraska, to Jerry and Dorothy Cariker. She grew up with four siblings in the rolling hills with the river as a playground and a sheet for a super cape to save the world. She married her childhood sweetheart and became mother to Marshall and Jerad Tucker.

During those early years in Nebraska, she spent many memorable times with friends and family and was known for her wacky sense of humor, the nickname Toad and a cool red '78 Firebird Trans AM. She was always a kid at heart with a love of music, animals and the outdoors that she shared with her children, camping, fishing and making the most of snow and mud days. Her love of music was celebrated by the naming of her eldest son, Marshall Tucker. Throughout, Laurie shared a special bond with her grandmother, preserving her cooking secrets in years to come long past from another lifetime.

In 2001 Laurie gave birth to a third son, Michael, before moving to Northern Colorado to settle in Milliken. She was especially proud of her newfound independence and worked very hard for 10 years at Amerimax in Loveland, making many close friends which soon became part of her extended family. She was caring and very easy to talk to and the impact her friends had on her and she on them will never be forgotten.

In June of 2012, Laurie met her fiancé, Jamie, bringing a long awaited happiness to her life and belief in love again. They enjoyed movies, music and dancing, sometimes until dawn. Laurie always accepted people for exactly who they were and Jamie afforded Laurie the same in her last eight months of life, for which they both were an inspiration to us all.

Laurie is survived by her mother, Dorothy Reiners of Evans; her fiancée, Jamie Neubauer of Longmont; her sons, Marshall Tucker of McCook, Nebraska, Jerad Tucker of McCook and Michael Semenara of Milliken; her brothers, Jerry Cariker Jr., of Anchorage, Alaska, and Robert Cariker of Fort Collins; her sister, Linda Edmondson of Milliken; her fiancé's children, Nicky, Allie and Cory Neubauer of Longmont; and many special family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father and her sister, Roberta Bennett.
