McCOOK, Nebraska -- Stanley H. Anderson, age 66 of McCook, died April 5, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.

He was born in Galveston, Texas, on Oct. 10, 1947, to Darrell D. and Willie L. (McGee) Anderson. Stan moved to Pleasanton, Nebraska, as an infant and was raised by his grandmother, Grace Anderson. At age 16, he moved to Omaha and began doing odd jobs.

In 1963, Stan met Janet Pitloun. After dating for three years, the couple married on Nov. 5, 1966, in Papillion, Nebraska. The couple would have celebrated 48 years of marriage this November. Stan was a truck driver. He hauled freight for Offutt Air Base in Omaha for 10 years. He moved to McCook in 1979 and worked for Cornbelt Chemical for five years. He then went to work for Crete Carrier Company for 24 years, retiring in 2009. Stan loved to fish and camp and ride his motorcycle.

He was preceded in death by parents; his grandmother, Grace Anderson; daughter, Patsy Anderson and brother, Wayne.

He is survived by his wife, Janet of McCook; daughter, Lynette and fiancé, Whanye Markel of Culbertson; two sons, Stan and fiancé, Julie Carfield and Rick and fiancé, Lisa Stull, all of McCook; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at McCook Baptist Church on Wednesday April 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ted Long officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook. Memorials may be left in Stan's name at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel.

Visitation is today, April 7, 2014, until 6 p.m. and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel.
