SCOTTSBLUFF, Nebraska -- Jack D. Nichols, 74, of Scottsbluff passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014.
His funeral service was Monday, March 31, at 2 p.m., at First Christian Church 2102 Ave A in Scottsbluff, with Pastor Arlene Johnson officiating. Inurnment with military rites by the United States Marine Corps will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to First Christian Church, Panhandle Shrine Transportation Fund or to Robert W. Furnace Lodge No. 265.

Jack was born on Aug. 7, 1939, in Curtis, Nebraska, to Abe and Leona (Linnemeyer) Nichols. He married Karen Strayer in McCook, on April 3, 1960. To this union two sons were born: Michael and Robert. He was involved with Boy Scouts while the boys were growing up.
Jack was a member of the United Stated Marine Corps from 1956-1962. He worked for KN Energy for 36 years until his retirement. He then worked with Lucky Keno for 10 years before his second retirement.
Jack was a member of the First Christian Church in Scottsbluff and the Elks Lodge. He joined the Masonic Lodge in 1992 and was Master in 1998 and 1999. He was Grand Senior Steward in 1998-1999, Grand Marshall 2000-2001, Deputy Grand Custodian 2001, and Grand Chaplain 2002 in the Nebraska Grand Lodge in 2001.
Jack was also a 33° Scottish Rite Mason and the Personal Representative of the SGIG of Nebraska Valley of Alliance. He was a member of the Tehama Shrine, Hastings and Panhandle Shrine, York Rite, Red Cross of Constantine, Dome Rock No. 215, Eastern Star and an honorary Job's Daughter. Jack was a member of the Board of Directors for the Nebraska Masonic Home located in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. For 10 years, he and his loving wife, Karen, made many trips across the state and made many friends during these trips.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; sons, Michael (Wendi) Nichols and Robert (Jennifer) Nichols; grandchildren, Brian (Kacy) Nichols, Nicole (John) Butler, and Taylor (Heather) Propp; great-grandchildren, Sophie Nichols, Dylann Propp, and Rylan Propp.
He was preceded in death by his parents and great-granddaughter, Lily Nichols.
