HOLDREGE, Nebraska -- Norma Lee Hollinger, 91, died Wednesday (March 12, 2014), at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Holdrege.
She was born Sept. 13, 1922, at Red Cloud, Nebraska, to Roy and Millie (Gouldie) Fair.
She graduated from Oxford High School in 1940 and then taught for two years at a country school. She married Merlin "Turtle" Hollinger on Feb. 28, 1942. She and her husband ran the Hollinger Hatchery in Beaver City for many years before she went back to school in 1965, attending Kearney State College, where she graduated with her bachelor's degree in education. Later she taught at St. Patrick's Catholic School in McCook until she retired in 1984.
She moved to Stamford in 2002, where she lived until the last few months when she became a resident at Holdrege Memorial Homes, in Holdrege.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Beaver City and the Edison VFW Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and brother, Robert L. Fair.
Surviors include children, Gaynelle and husband, Vernon Blickenstaff of Stamford, Nebraska, Bruce and wife, Kathy Hollinger of Logandale, Nevada andEdwin and wife, Cindy Hollinger of Kearney, Nebraska; brother, A.J. Fair of Shelton, Washington; sister, Marjorie Sulgrove of Shelton, Washington; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Monday, March 17, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Oxford, Nebraska, with the Revs. Eldon Fablinger and George Probasco officiating. Interment is at Oxford Cemetery at Oxford.
Viewing and visitation is Sunday, March 16, 2014, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to the service at the church.
