ARAPAHOE, Nebraska -- Howard N. Hector, 88, died Thursday (March 6, 2014), at the Cambridge Hospital in Cambridge, Nebraska.

He was born March 28, 1925, on the family farm outside of White Sulphur Springs, New York, to Walter A. and Ruth A. (Edwards) Hector. He attended school in White Sulphur Springs Elementary and Liberty High School, graduating in 1942.

He returned to the family farm, where he worked until the family moved to Arapahoe in 2010.

He married Georgia Nell Barnett on Feb. 7, 1954, in Metropolis, Illinois.

He was a member of White Sulphur Springs Methodist Church and a member of the Dairymen's League Cooperative and Cornell Cooperative Extension.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia of Arapahoe; children, Melody and husband, Mike Adams of Shelton and Arapahoe and Nelson and wife, Susie of Arapahoe; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services are Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Becky Saddler officiating. Interment will be at Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe.

Viewing and visitation is today until 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be given to the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church or the Shelton United Methodist.
