Ronald C. Larson

McCOOK, Nebraska -- Ronald C. Larson, age 75, of McCook, passed away at his home in rural Red Willow County.

Ron was born July 15, 1938, in Tyler, Minnesota, to parents Clarence L. and Martha M. (Hatton) Larson. He was one of two children. Ron grew up in Minnesota, graduating with the class of 1957 from Balaton High School, Balaton, Minnesota.

On Nov. 11, 1968, Ron married Linda Nitz in Lakota, Iowa. Over the years, the family grew to include son, Jim, and daughter, Ronda. The couple lived in Omaha, Nebraska and Crescent, Iowa, before making their home in McCook to be near their grandchildren. Ron worked as a carpenter including his own company, R&L Construction.

Ron was a member of the McCook Eagles Club. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, shooting trap, wood working and attending his grandchildren's events. He was a regular at Sarge's, enjoying coffee and conversation with the guys each day.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Martha Larson, and his wife, Linda Larson.

He is survived by his two children, Jim Larson of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Ronda (Jon) Graff of McCook; his sister, Janet (Johnnie) Hall of Cookeville, Tennessee; a nephew, Stephen Stephens and eight grandchildren, Anna, Alex, Andrew, Erik, Ethan, Emma, Eli Graff and Mitchell Larson.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 7, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Chapel, McCook, with Father Gary Brethour officiating.

Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, also located in McCook.

Memorial contributions may be designated to St. Patrick's Catholic School, 401 East F Street, McCook, NE 69001.
