LINCOLN, Nebraska -- Susan Carson Shipley, 79, died Tuesday (Feb. 25, 2014) in Lincoln.

She was born Oct. 28, 1934, in Fremont, Nebraska, to Herbert and Dorothy Olson. She moved to Norfolk, Nebraska, for her freshman year of high school and graduated with the class of 1952. She received a bachelors of art degree in education from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

She married Jim Carson on June 24, 1956. She and Dr. Carson lived in McCook and were married 36 years at the time of his death. She married Al Shipley July 11, 1999, and they were married nine years at time of his death.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jim and Al.

Survivors include son, Jeff Carson of Topeka, Kansas; daughters, Sally Olson and husband, Mark of Milford, Nebraska and Joan Nauman and husband, Bart of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Anne McCoy; brother, Hank Olson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janet and Stew Karrer; and five grandchildren.

Memorial services are Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, 2 p.m. at St. Mark's Methodist Church, in Lincoln. Inurnment will be at a later date in O'Neill, Nebraska.

Memorials may be given to Matt Talbot and St. Mark's Methodist Church.

Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.
