MCCOOK, Nebraska -- Stephen Earl Potthoff age 60, passed away on Feb. 23, 2014, at the Wedgewood Nursing Home in Grand Island, Nebraska.

He was born in McCook on April 3, 1953, the son of Lloyd and Elvira (Walker) Potthoff. Stephen was baptized and confirmed at the United Memorial Methodist Church. He graduated from Republican Valley High School in 1971. He attended the McCook Junior College for two years and then graduated from the Kearney State College with a degree in marketing. Stephen was an integral part of the family farming business. He also pursued a career in marketing. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and sports.

Stephen was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Mabel Potthoff and Emmet and Josie Walker; and his father, Lloyd, in December 2003.

Stephen is survived by his mother, Elvira of McCook; brothers, Larry and wife, Jodi Potthoff of Hastings, Nebraska and Darrel and wife, Joyce Potthoff of Lincoln, Nebraska; sisters, Marianne Kornegay of St. Paul, Nebraska and Dr. Sandra Potthoff of Stuart, Florida; aunts and uncles, Burdeen Kasson of Beaver City, Leslie and wife, Mary Walker of Littleton, Colorado, Fausta Walker of Arvada, Colorado and Hilda Walker of Stockton, California; and two nephews, Adam and Brad.

Private family services will be on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook, Nebraska, with Pastor Doug Griger officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery of McCook.

Visitation will be on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel. Friends may leave on-line condolences at herrmannfh.com. Memorials may be left in Stephen's name to the American Heart Associating or charity of choice.
