Shirley Ann Haarberg

WAUNETA, Nebraska -- Shirley Ann Haarberg was born on March 3, 1934, to Clyde Brady and Letha Grace (Davidson) Murray in Dallas, Iowa. Shirley's father worked for the railroad and the family moved often with his job. She attended school through high school in Texas, Iowa, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

Shirley worked for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator before her marriage to LeRoy Haarberg on Aug. 7, 1955, in Herrington, Kansas. The couple settled on a farm southwest of Wauneta, Nebraska, where Shirley resided her entire life. To this union a daughter, LeAnn, was born.

You could always find Shirley in her garden or with her animals, especially the cattle and dogs.

Shirley passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at the Chase County Hospital. She was 79 years of age.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Letha Murray; her daughter, LeAnn; brother, Jerry Murray; and sister Phyllis Tuttle.

Survivors include her husband, LeRoy of Wauneta, Nebraska; sisters, Barbara Ciskey, Patricia Schlesener and Kathy LeStrange; brothers, Richard Murray and wife, Pat, Gary (Tom) Murray and Ronald Murray, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley chose cremation; there will be no memorial services. There will be a private family inurnment at a later date.
