ALMA, Nebraska -- Gertrude (Gert) J. McCue, 81, of Alma, died Saturday (Feb. 22, 2014), at the Good Samaritan Colonial Villa in Alma.

She was born July 13, 1932, on a farm north of Arapahoe, Nebraska, to Herman and Bertha (Gehring) Monter.

She graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1950 and married her high school sweetheart, Eugene (Hoppy) McCue in 1954. Gert and Hoppy were married for 60 years and had three sons. She worked as a beautician, for the local newspaper, and in an agri-business as a secretary and bookkeeper in Tekamah and Alma, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Ron Glanzer.

Survivors include her husband, Hoppy McCue of Alma; sons, Mark and wife, Susan McCue of Tucson, Arizona, Mike McCue of Dallas, Texas and Dave and wife, Lisa McCue of Omaha Nebraska; sister, Delores and husband, Leland Hermes of Rogers, Arkansas, and four grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at 11a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Alma. A luncheon will follow in the Fellowship Hall. A graveside gathering of the immediate family will be later at the Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe, Nebraska.

There will be no viewing or visitation as cremation was chosen
