Beaver City, Nebraska -- Elmer James Schaefers, 74, of Beaver City, died Sunday (Feb. 9, 2014), at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge, Nebraska.

He was born on July 6, 1940, in Clayton, Iowa, near Locking Dam 10 to Harold and Venita (Carpenter) Schaefers.

They moved to California in the mid 1940s, then moved to Cogswell, North Dakota,where he graduated from high school He then attended mechanic school. In 1961, he moved to Berthoud, Colorado, and managed Schaefer's Repair and worked other various jobs. He married married Susie (Missing) Rygol on March 26, 1987. They moved to Florida and worked as a mechanic in Williston, Florida. They moved back to Beaver City in 2004.

He was a member of the St. Germanus Catholic Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Susie Schaefers of Beaver, City and sister-in-law, Betty and husband, Howard Johnson of Cambridge.

Graveside services are Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City with the Rev. Rayappa Konka officiating.
