Co-op votes to merge

BIG SPRINGS, Nebraska -- The Farmers Co-op Elevator Association of Big Springs membership voted to merge with Ag Valley Coop on Thursday. The merger will take place on March 1, 2014.

"Ag Valley Coop Board, Management and Staff are pleased to welcome the members of Farmers Co-op in Big Springs to become part of the Ag Valley Cooperative family. We have many services that we can offer to the farmers in the Big Springs area to assist them in making their operation successful and profitable," stated Ron Hunter, Ag Valley Coop General Manager.

"Agriculture and agri-business are vital to the state of Nebraska and Ag Valley Coop recognizes the need to provide facilities and assets that will enable our consumers to get the best agricultural products and services possible to compete in today's marketplace."

Ag Valley Coop has its headquarters in Edison, Nebraska, and serves customers at 23 locations in Nebraska and Kansas with approximately 300 employees. There are five major departments: The Grain Department, the Agronomy Department, the Feed Department, the Petroleum Department and the Water Resources Department.

General Manager Hunter went on to state, "The merger of Farmers Co-op and Ag Valley will bring great value to all area producers. Ag Valley Coop is a work in progress that will continue to evolve to meet the needs of its customers."
