OBERLIN, Kansas -- Alberta R. "Bertie" Ritter, 83, died Sunday (Feb. 9, 2014), at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

She was born March 1, 1930, to Gottfried and Sarah (McDonald) Mumm in Selden, Kansas.

She attended Selden Rural High School.

She married Seraphim "S. J." Ritter on Oct. 23, 1950, in Selden. They lived on their farm west of Leoville, Kansas.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Altar Society in Leoville, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gottfried and Sarah (McDonald) Mumm; husband, Seraphim "S. J." Ritter and brothers, Paul, Fredrick and Hubert.

Survivors include children, Betty and husband, Dick Vahling of Dresden, Kansas; brothers, Charles "Bud" and wife, Vickie, Mumm of Herndon, Kansas, Clem and wife, Pat Mumm of Colby, Kansas, and Kenny Mumm of Selden; seven sisters, Anogene Rogers of Selden, Josephine Douglas of Greeley, Colorado, Eleanor Rogers of Selden, Marge Roy of Atwood, Kansas, Dolores Raile of Hoxie, Kansas, Clara and husband, Dick Newton of Denver, Colorado, and Judy and husband, Gordon Smith of Greeley, Colorado; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Leoville with the Rev. Mark Berland officiaitng. Interment is at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Leoville.

Visitation is Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the funeral home in Selden and after 5 p.m. at the church in Leoville. Vigil Service is at 6 p.m. at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Kansas Food Bank.
