LEBANON, Nebraska -- Loyal D. Springer was born March 6, 1944, on the family farm north of Danbury, Nebraska, to Cloyce and Bertha (Goltl) Springer. He passed away at his home near Lebanon, Nebraska, on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at the age of 69.
Loyal and his four siblings grew up on the family farm, working alongside their father. He attended Danbury Grade School and graduated from Beaver Valley High School in Lebanon and McCook Community College.
On Aug. 1, 1965, Loyal was united in marriage to Lynda Martin in Lebanon, Nebraska. They made their home on a farm in the Lebanon area and became the parents of two daughters.
His family and work were at the center of Loyal's life. He had a great love for his family and was always there for the activities his children and grandchildren were involved in, especially sporting and school events and 4-H. Farming and ranching were a part of his life from the very beginning and something he truly enjoyed. Loyal was a member of the Lebanon Lions Club and Fencepost Pool Team. He enjoyed playing pool and visiting over a cup of coffee with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Lynda of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Mike Ritter of Selden, Kansas, and Shelly and Dennis Macfee of Oberlin, Kansas; brother, Marlin Springer and Denice Scellin of McCook, Nebraska; sister and brother-in-law, LaDonna and Steve Harrison of Lebanon, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Charlene Springer of Lebanon, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Christopher Springer, Rachael and Danica Ritter, and Kaden, Taylor, Madison, and Landen Macfee; great-grandson, Rostin Loyal Springer; in addition to numerous nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.
Loyal was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Marvin and Lyle Springer.
Funeral Services are Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Royce Leitner. Interment will be at Hamburg Cemetery in Red Willow County.
