OBERLIN, Kansas -- Kenneth R. Lines was born July 25, 1941, in Denver, Colorado, to Robert C. and Florence S. (Davies) Lines. He passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at his home in Oberlin, Kansas, surrounded by his family.

Kenneth grew up in Denver and attended school in Wheat Ridge and Arvada. During the Vietnam War, he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea.

On October 29, 1965, Kenneth was united in marriage to Doris St. John in Denver. Two children were born to their union, Keri and Kyle. They made their home in the Denver area for 19 years before moving to Oberlin in 1984. The couple later moved to Arizona for several years before returning to Oberlin in 2010.

Kenneth was employed as a truck driver for Safeway Foods and retired in 2008. While living in Oberlin, Kenneth served as the EMS Director for several years. He was a man who enjoyed working with his hands, especially working on cars and doing woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Doris of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Keri and Ben Bryan of Oberlin; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Laura Lines of McCook, Nebraska; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Jean Lines of Littleton, Colorado; five grandchildren: Kelli, Kayler, Chris, Keagan, and Cooper; and one great-granddaughter, Brionna. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service was Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at 1 p.m. at

Pauls Funeral Home, Oberlin, Kansas with Rev. Dave Cordaro officiating.

Memorials may be given to the Kenneth Lines Memorial Fund.
