CHARLOTTE, North Carolina -- Craig Martin Fielding, 67, passed away Dec. 27, 2013, at Levine Dickson Hospice House of complications from cancer.

Craig was born Nov. 14, 1946, and grew up in Hayes Center on the farm homesteaded by his grandfather, Cornelius Fielding. He is a Vietnam veteran and received a B.A. in political science from the University of Nebraska. He had a long successful career in financial planning and was a principal of Marketrends Global, LLC. He served on the Board of Directors at Gaston Hospice and Covenant Village (Gastonia, North Carolina).

Craig was preceded in death by his father, Court John Fielding and his first wife, Susan Eunice Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Mallard and his children, Michael Glenn Smith of North Carolina, Kathryn Smith Moses of South Carolina, Craig Martin Fielding, Jr. and wife, Tiffany Lynn Rhynard of Florida and Courtney Fielding Byrnes and husband, Doug of North Carolina. His grandchildren are Taylor Glenn Smith of North Carolina, Charles Mallard Moses and John Michael Moses of South Carolina, and Isolina Sabine Rhynfield of Florida. In addition, he is survived by his mother, Lillian Marie Fielding of Hayes Center, Nebraska, and siblings, Cornelius Walter Fielding, Ellen Marie Fielding, Stephen Carl Fielding, Stewart Rice Fielding and wife, Reva, and Deborah Fielding Walker and husband, Larry, plus nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Craig was passionate about his family, playing tennis, fishing, and cooking.

A service was at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service at 11 a.m. on Dec. 30, 2013.
