Brian Paul Walz

DANBURY, Nebraska -- Brian Paul Walz, age 31, passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at his home near Danbury.

He was born on April 7, 1982, in Hastings and came to live with the Bernard and Paula (Meader) Walz family in Indianola. His older sister Brenda greeted him with much jubilation. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Catherine's Catholic Church.

Brian graduated from Republican Valley High School in 2001, where he participated in FFA and football. He then went on to Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland, Kansas, where he received a certified welder degree. He was employed by Besler Industries of Cambridge as a welder.

Brian loved all aspects of farming. He was often found tinkering and fixing farm equipment, trucks, and cars. He loved time spent with his daughter Bailey, playing cards, riding horses, and just being with his many friends.

Preceding him in death was his mother, Paula Walz on Aug. 27, 2003; maternal grandparents, Paul and Esther Meader; and paternal grandparents, John and Mary Walz.

Survivors include his daughter, Bailey Walz of McCook; father, Bernie and wife, Marilynn Walz, of Indianola; sister, Brenda Walz and her children, Jazmine, Jadyn, and Jakub Walz of Indianola; step-sister, Bridget O'Neal of Grand Island; step-brother, Joshua O'Neil of Colorado; special friend, Jenny Ryan and son, Dylan of McCook; numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, 1 p.m. until time of rosary at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. Friends may go online at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences to the family.

Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, 7:30 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola with Father Thomas McGuire officiating. Burial will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Indianola.
