OBERLIN, Kansas -- Derry W. Bishop, 76, died Monday (Jan. 13, 2014), at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.

He was born April 6, 1937, to Merle and Lorna (Stimbert) Bishop in Oberlin.

He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1956.

He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Oberlin United Methodist Church and the Triple Creek Saddle Club.

He was a farmer and rancher.

He was preceded in death by parents and granddaughter, Crystal Bishop.

Survivors include children, Derry M. and wife, Lisa Bishop of Glendale, Arizona, Bob Bishop of Manhattan, Kansas, Jodie and husband, Rick Bailey of Independence, Missouri and Terese and husband, Greg Vontz of Oberlin; sister, Merla Rhodes of Hays, Kansas; nine grandchildren and five grandchildren.

Services are Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home with lay pastor Terry McCorkle officating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery

There is no visitation. Memorials may be given in is name.
