BEAVER CITY, Nebraska -- Donald D. Harrold, 85, of Beaver City, formerly of Oxford, Nebraska, died Jan. 1, 2014, at Beaver City Manor at Beaver City.

He was born Feb. 15, 1928, south of Beaver City, to Pearl R. and Mabel A. (Goodwin) Harrold. He attended Beaver City High School. He worked at the Hollinger, Beaver City, and Oxford Elevators, while serving as manager in Oxford for a many years.

He married Luella Gerd on Dec. 2, 1950, in Oxford, Nebraska. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oxford. He moved to the Beaver City Manor in 2011 because of health problems.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerry Harrold; sisters, Ruth Brand and Edith Black; brothers, Lloyd and Paul Harrold; daughter-in-law, Cindy Harrold and great-granddaughter, Rachael Harrold.

Survivors include his wife, Luella Harrold of Beaver City; sons, Bill Harrold of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Tom and wife, Jan Harrold of Holdrege, Nebraska; sisters, Mildred Barker of Morgan Hill, California, Pauline Huff of Loveland, Colorado and Carol Theobald of Beaver City; sister-in-law, Donna Blees of Alma, Nebraska; four grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.

Funeral services are Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Nebraska, with the Rev. Brian Jenkins officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City.

Viewing and visitation is Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to the service at the church.
