Alice F. Bobbitt

OBERLIN, Kansas -- Alice F. Bobbitt, 93, died Thursday (Dec. 26, 2013), at Oberlin.

She was born May 13, 1920, in Decatur County, Kansas, to Phillip and Laura Mae (Gilbert) Hackney. She attended Decatur Community High School and Fort Hays State University, earning a bachelor's degree in education

She taught school for 24 years in Decatur and Rawlins Counties and was also a CNA at Decatur Health Systems.

She married Leonard Brown on April 12, 1940, and Max Bobbitt on Aug. 3, 1962.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Business and Professional Women's Club (DecaturProfessional Women), Calico Gals, and Lions Club.

She was preceded in death by parents, Phillip and Laura Mae Hackney; husband, Max Bobbitt; son, Dennis Brown; brothers, Herman, Elmer and Gerald; sisters, Veda Scott, Lois McGowne, Anna Palmer and Agnes Barenburg.

Survivors include her daughter, Jeannine Rhoades of North Platte, Nebraska; stepdaughter, Charolette and husband, Carl Neff of Norton, Kansas; sister, Peggy Green of Odessa, Texas; brothers-in-law, Rex and wife, Barb McGowne of San Angelo, Texas, and Barton and wife, Helen Bobbitt of Loveland, Colorado; sisters-in-law, Erma Hackney and Gladis Minshall of Norton; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchilden and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services are Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, 2 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home with the Rev. Judi Stricker officiating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 1-8 p.m. and Monday, 8 a.m. until service time.
