Freda Clapp wins 'Good Neigh-bear Award'
McCOOK, Nebraska -- Freda Clapp of McCook is the latest winner of the Linda Maiden State Farm Insurance Good Neigh-bear Award.
Freda was nominated by her sister Shirley Stapp of Billings, Montana. Shirley writes, "My sister is always driving friends to North Platte or Kearney for doctor's appointments. She helps at the Helping Hands. She is always there for ones that need something done. I live in Billings, Montana, but I talk to her often and she is always going and doing for others."
The Good Neigh-bear Award comes with a $50 donation to the charity of the nominator's choice made by Linda Maiden of State Farm Insurance. The United Methodist Women's Helping Hand store in McCook was chosen for the donation.
The store, located in the lower level of the Merit Building on the corner of Norris and C Street, consists of several rooms of donated slightly used items and is run entirely by volunteers.
A wide array of merchandise is available - from clothing, linens, blankets, Christmas decorations, toys, and collectibles. Proceeds from the sale of items support the mission work of the United Methodist Women, both in the local church and on the national and international level.
The Good Neigh-bear Award is a joint effort of McCook Gazette and Linda Maiden State Farm Insurance. The award will acknowledge a Gazette-land resident who has done something special to help out friends, neighbors, and even strangers without expecting anything in return.
