GRAYSLAKE, Illinois -- Catherine R. VanArsdale (Boyle) died Nov. 26, 2013, at Grayslake, Illinois.

She was born April 1, 1929, to Patrick and Winifrid Boyle. She grew up on a farm in Hitchcock County, attended a one-room country grade school and graduated from Stratton High School in 1945. She attended College of St. Mary in Omaha, Nebraska, and McCook Junior College. She married James VanArsdale in 1956 and became a homemaker. Four children came from this union, two girls and two boys. After college she became a grade school teacher in McCook. She then worked in reservations for United Airlines in Denver, Colorado. She was a member of Catholic churches in various cities where she lived.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Boyle.

Survivors include her husband, James VanArsdale; children, Donald VanArsdale, Elizabeth VanArsdale, Janet VanArsdale, Hugh VanArsdale and two grandaughters.

Services were today at 11 a.m., at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Mundelein, Illinois.
