ARAPAHOE, Nebraska -- Delbert C. Siegfried, 90, of Arapahoe, died Sunday (Dec. 1, 2013), at Cambridge Memorial Hospital at Cambridge, Nebraska.

He was born Oct. 31, 1923, at Lincoln, Nebraska to E. George and Emma (Luedtke) Siegfried.

After his schooling, he went into the U.S. Army in 1940, and served in the European Theatre during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He married Mary Kennedy at Oberlin, Kansas, on Aug. 15, 1944. They would farm at Traer, Kansas for a number of years. They would then move to Colorado Springs, Colorado to work for the U.S. Postal Service. After many years of postal work, they moved to California where he worked as a salesman for different companies and a mechanic for Toyota. After retirement, they moved to Danbury, Nebraska. In 2001, they moved to Heritage Plaza in Cambridge, Nebraska and later to Arapahoe, Nebraska.

His wife, Mary, passed away 2004. Because of health problems, Delbert moved to the Prairie Pines Retirement Home in Arapahoe in 2011.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion Post in Danbury, Nebraska.

He is survived by two sister-in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; brothers, Eugene and Larry Siegfried; sisters, Eloise Holliday, Phyllis Smith, and infant, Carrol Siegfried.

Funeral services are Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska, with the Revs. Becky Saddler and George Probasco officiating. Interment will be at Oberlin Cemetery at Oberlin, Kansas.

Viewing and visitation is today until 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral in, Arapahoe and prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
