BENKELMAN, Nebraska -- - Larry G. Stute, age 70, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, in Benkelman.

Larry was born in Benkelman on Sept. 9, 1943, to Francis Fredrick and Hazel Irene (Trout) Stute. He was the youngest of eight children.

Larry attended and graduated high school from Parks, Nebraska in 1961. On June 5, 1965, he married Arlene Pursley in Benkelman. The couple were blessed with two sons, and made their home north of Benkelman on the family farm and ranch.

Larry was a member of the Benkelman Jaycees and the United Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed assisting the American Legion in placing flags at the cemetery each year for Veteran's and Memorial Day. Larry had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a joke to share. He enjoyed golfing as well as coyote hunting with his greyhound dogs. Larry was a devoted family man who spent many hours with his sons and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene of Benkelman; two sons, Kurt and wife, Michell Stute of Norman, Oklahoma, and Brian and wife, Trina Stute of Benkelman; brother, John and wife, Leona Stute of Lucerne, Colorado; sister, Iva Jean Lewis of Witter, Alaska; and sisters-in-law, Ardith Stute of Imperial, Nebraska and Sharon and Bill O'Brien of Benkelman; Troy Hardwick and Mardell Duvel, who were like sons to Larry. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Frank, Roy, Carl; two sisters, Karolyn Connelango and Doris DeVinny; and brother-in-law, Fred Lewis.

Memorial services will be Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. Mountain Time, at the Benkelman Community Building with Marcine Farmer, PMA, officiating.
