Gerald J. 'Jerry' Vontz

TRENTON, Nebraska -- Gerald J. "Jerry" Vontz, age 67, of Trenton, died at his home on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013.

He was born in McCook, Nebraska, on Sept. 18, 1946, to Lawrence and Cornelia "Nellie" (Sughroue) Vontz. Jerry attended school in Indianola and graduated from Indianola High School in 1964. He served in the U. S. Army Reserves.

Jerry was married to Linda Drinkwalter and to this union two children were born: Cathy and Mike. Jerry work in the oil fields in Nebraska and Montana as a driller and later as a pumper. He worked for Stopplelworth and the Texaco Companies. Jerry has lived in Trenton for the past nine years. He has worked for the Frenchman Valley COOP in Culbertson and the Trenton Agri Products.

Jerry loved to be outdoors, hunting, fishing. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially Raider football or his beloved Yankees.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry and a grandson, Colton Vontz

He is survived by a special friend, Judy Hay of Trenton; daughter, Cathy and husband, Shon Whetham of Morrell, Nebraska; son, Mike of Eustis, four grandchildren; three brothers, Dave and wife, Nancy of Omaha, Wayne and wife, Mary Jo of Cambridge and Denis and wife, Terri of Lincoln.

A Memorial Mass will be recited on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola, Nebraska, with Father Tom Meguire officiating. Inurnment will be at the St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery.
