Richard A. Sitzman

INDIANOLA, Nebraska -- Richard A. "Dick" Sitzman of Indianola passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. He was 79 years old.

Dick was born on March 17, 1934, at Culbertson to parents, Henry and Helen (Hill) Sitzman. He graduated from Culbertson High School in 1951.

On Nov. 15, 1958, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Reiners at Indianola. To this union a daughter, Teresa, was born. They made their home on a farm near Indianola where Dick farmed until his retirement in 1981.

Dick was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, McCook Elks and Eagles. He loved to go fishing, hunting, and dancing. He had a true passion for the game of golf. He was an avid supporter of sports, especially following the Republican Valley and Husker Volleyball teams.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Henry and Helen Sitzman; his wife Marilyn Sitzman; daughter, Teresa Sitzman; brother, Gerald "Pudge" Sitzman; two sisters, Betty Schwenk and Marianne Cole; and sister-in-law, Sharon Sitzman.

Survivors include his brother, William "Bill" Sitzman and wife, Pat, of McCook; two sisters, Barbara and husband, Dolyn Brown, Sr. of Culbertson and Kathie Deuter of McCook; brother-in-law, Ken Cole of McCook; sister-in-law, Peggy Sitzman of Indianola; numerous nieces, nephews, family, and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Indianola Fire and Rescue, the Mrs. X-JC's Playground Equipment Fund or Cambridge Golf Course.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. until time of rosary at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. The family will be present to greet friends.

Rosary will be recited Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, 7 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola with Father Thomas McGuire as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Indianola.
