Hillcrest OKd for VA residents
McCOOK, Nebraska -- As of Monday, Oct. 21, Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska, is a contracted nursing facility for the U.S. Veterans Administration.
This certification has been more than a year in coming, according to Hillcrest administrator Colinda Nappa.
A veteran is eligible for the community nursing home programs if he/she is enrolled in the VA system and needs nursing home level of care. A veteran must also meet other criteria such as a 70 percent or higher service-connected disability.
The VA contract is an all-inclusive rate for routine care and a semi-private room, Nappa said. Once a veteran has been approved for a community placement, the veteran should not receive any nursing home bills.
Nappa said that a veteran or his/her family may contact Hillcrest or the VA for eligibility requirements.
