Charlotte Marie Johnson

TRENTON, Nebraska -- Charlotte Marie Johnson, age 92, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at El Dorado Manor in Trenton.

Charlotte was born on Sept. 18, 1921, in Imperial, Nebraska, to John and Martha (Neverve) Teply. She lived her childhood on a farm north of Wauneta until she was 16 and went to California to work in an airplane factory for the war effort.

She returned home and on Jan. 3, 1946, she married Wayne Johnson. They lived in Hayes Center where she worked for the school and café as a cook, Hayes County courthouse and ASCS as a janitor and at the local grocery store. She later moved to Imperial and McCook.

She dearly loved working in her flowers; she also enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning and especially making quilts and afghans for her family. She was always willing to help family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne, in 1974; her brothers, Charlie, Johnnie, Raymond, Eddie; and one sister, Josie Keller.

She will be greatly missed by her children, son, Gaylord "Jake" and fiancée, Dianne Jurgens of Johnson Lake, Nebraska; daughter, Irene Felker and husband, Tom of Culbertson; grandchildren, Shannon (Theresa) Gerih, Toby (Landon) Hostetter, Kevin (Tosha) Gerih; six great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Dakota, Katlyn, Cannon, Tailyn and Perla.

Graveside services will be Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. CDT at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta with Father Lothar Gilde officiating.
