McCOOK, Nebraska -- Margaret Mary Harr, 84, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
She was born on Oct. 18, 1928, to Rodney and Matilda (DeRouchey) Montgomery in Norfolk, Nebraska. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Norfolk in 1946 and Mercy Nursing School in 1949.
On Nov. 22, 1952, she married Donald J. Harr and made her home in McCook where she devoted herself to her family, church and nursing career at St. Catherine's Hospital and Community Hospital in McCook. She loved music and was a long-time member of St. Patrick's Choir.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 56 years, Don; her parents and brothers, Dr. Robert Montgomery, Rodney Montgomery, William Montgomery; grandson, John Michael Harr, granddaughter, Monica Marie Harr, brothers-in-law, Fr. Richard Harr and James Harr and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Burns and Jean Montgomery.
She was survived by three sons, Greg Harr and wife, Sue of Omaha; Steve Rapatz-Harr and wife, Jenny of St. Cloud, Minnesota; Chris Harr and wife, Amy of Superior, Colorado; three daughters, Peg Brooks and husband, Bryant of McCook; Mary Kay Cochran and husband, Steve of Kearney, Nebraska; and Betsy Stanley of Nebraska City; 24 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Montgomery and wife, Margaret of Omaha, Nebraska; one brother-in-law, Jerry Harr and wife, Sonja of Carmel, Indiana; three sisters-in-law, Helen Montgomery of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Jane Brown of Carlsbad, California and Betty Pestal of Omaha, Nebraska and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be recited on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at 7 p.m. at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Father Gary Brethour. Visitation is today until 6 p.m. and Friday, all day until after Rosary.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in McCook, Nebraska.
