OBERLIN, Kansas -- Fred H. Waldo, 84, died Sept. 14, 2013, at Decatur Health Systems in Oberlin.
He was born Jan, 25, 1929, in Oberlin to Dwight and Emma (Horky) Waldo. He was raised in Oberlin and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1947. He married Mildred Marcuson on Sept. 12, 1948, at Lund Covenant Church in rural Oberlin.
He was a parts manager at Reliance Motor Company and a city clerk, both in Oberlin.
He was a member of the Elks Club in McCook, Nebraska, and the Masonic Lodge in Oberlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Emma Waldo, wife, Mildred and two brothers, Lee and Wayne Waldo.
Survivors included children, David and wife, Lois Waldo of Topeka, Kansas, Daniel and wife, Dianne Waldo of Overland Park, Kansas and Barbara and husband, Robert Eskew of McCook; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2 p.m. at the Oberlin Cemetery with the Rev. Nancy Proffitt officiating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery,.
Visitation is Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home with family greeting friends from 7 to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the Decatur County Good Samaritan Society and the American Cancer Society.
