WAUNETA, Nebraska -- Amanda 'Mandie' Kay Douglas went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 3, 2013. She was 35 years old.

Mandie was born Aug. 24, 1978, in Landstuhl, West Germany, to James and Marvene (Porter) Roe. She grew up in Texas and Nebraska. She graduated from Wauneta-Palisade High School in 1996. She graduated from the Mid-Plains Community College Nursing program in 2006. She was currently working on continuing her nursing to become a nurse anesthetist.

Mandie loved adventure. She has traveled the world. She enjoyed running, bicycling, hiking, camping, fishing, mountain climbing, and most other outdoor activities. If you couldn't find Mandie, look outside. Mandie also loved her job as a nurse. She enjoyed helping people and was always eager to get back to work even at her sickest.

Mandie was born with Cystic Fibrosis; despite this, she lived life to the fullest. She never let her disease slow her down. She completed several long-distance bicycle rides and she always found the good in life. On the Monday after Easter in 2010, she received a blessing. Mandie was gifted with a double lung transplant that awarded her three and half more years with her daughter and other loved ones. With that gift of life, Mandie became an advocate for organ donation.

In 2007, she met Troy Douglas. He quickly became the love of her life. They married on Dec. 29, 2007. To this union a child was born, Tryphena Grace. Tryphena became her sunshine.

She was preceded in death by an infant son; her brother, Andy Roe; grandparents, Edward and Willa Roe; great-grandparents, Wayne Porter and Gladys Porter; mother-in-law, Helen Douglas; and Aunt Hattie Harris.
