ARAPAHOE, Nebraska -- Rosemary R. Stagemeyer, 73, of Holbrook, Nebraska, died Thursday (Aug. 29, 2013), at Cambridge Memorial Hospital at Cambridge, Nebraska.

She was born on May 14, 1940, in Oxford, Nebraska to Chester and Thelma (Brown) Reid. She grduated from Beaver City High School in 1958. She later attended Kearney State College where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics education.

On July 21, 1963, she married Irlee Lewis Stagemeyer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe. They made their home in Ainsworth, Nebraska where they were both employed at Ainsworth Public Schools. In 1966 the couple moved to a farm in Frontier County before moving to the Stagemeyer homestead in 1967. In January of 1979, Rosemary was elected to serve as the County Superintendent of Schools for Gosper County. She continued to hold this position until her retirement from office in June 2000. She also worked at the long term care facilities in Arapahoe, McCook and Elwood throughout the years.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the LWML.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma, and brother, Marion Reid.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Irlee Stagemeyer of Holbrook; children, Merrell and wife, Sandra Stagemeyer of Cambridge, Nebraska, Brent and wife, Carla Stagemeyer of Page, Nebraska, Jeree' and husband, Brandon Holt of Lincoln, Nebraska and eight grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the service at the church.

Funeral services were today, Sept. 3, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe with the Rev. James Moshier officiating. Interment was at St. Matthews Cemetery in Arapahoe.

Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe and the American Cancer Society.
