QUINTER, Kansas -- Edith E. Foster, 91, died Wednesday (Aug. 28, 2013), at Quinter.

She was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Sheridan County, Kansas, to Morris and Viva Viola (Remick) Shafer. She was raised in rural Sheridan County,Kansas.

She attended Sheridan County Grade School and graduated in 1940 from Hoxie High School. She attended school for her teaching certificate.

She married Andrew J. Foster on Aug. 3, 1947, in Studley, Kansas. They lived in Jennings, Kansas.

She was a homemaker and former teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Viva Shafer; daughter, Donna Osborn; brother, Ralph Shafer and grandson, Lee Hensley.

Survivors include children, Morris and wife, Irene Foster and Jack and wife, Dee Foster, all of Grainfield, Kansas, Carl and wife, Tonya Foster of Springfield, Oregon, Jerry and wife, Patty Foster and Rick Foster and fiancée Rachel Mapps, all of Jennings, Linda and husband, Gayle Dible of Oakley, Kansas, Joyce and husband, Brian Virgil of Garden City, Kansas, Jana Hensley of Oakley; 20 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Services are Tuesday, Sept. 3, 10 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Jennings with the Rev. STan Smith officiating. Interment is at the Jennings Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 2-4 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Selden, Kansas.

Memorials may be given to Jennings American Legion, Fire Department and EMTs.
