BENKELMAN, Nebraska -- Larry Gooder, 67, longtime resident of Benkelman, died Saturday (Aug. 17, 2013), surrounded by his family at his home after a battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Louise and his daughters and their families: Dr. Shannon Renee Jensen and Darren Jensen of Grant, Nebraska, LaCinda Lee and Gerry Ashby of Deer Park, Washington and Hawley Kay and Greg Lister of Cozad, Nebraska; siblings, Robert Delbert "Dell" and Shirley Gooder of Alda, Nebraska, William Leo "Billy" and Norma Gooder of Topeka, Kansas and June Elaine and Jim Magnani of Benkelman; five grandchildren and many other family members.

A Celebration of Life service is 6 p.m. (MT), Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman. Interment will follow at the Benkelman Cemetery at sunset. A celebration of his life will continue at the American Legion Hall in Benkelman following interment.

There will be no visitation and the family has chosen to keep the casket closed for services.

A memorial has been established in his memory.
