Robert 'Bob' Anderson

ARAPAHOE, Nebraska -- Robert (Bob) Anderson, 77, died Saturday (Aug.10, 2013), at Holdrege Memorial Home.

He was born to John "Mac" and Mildred (Adkins) Anderson in Holdrege on June 18, 1936. He graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1954.

In 1955, he joined the Army and was honorably discharged in 1957. On Aug. 17, 1958, he married Leora J. Knosp. He farmed and operated a feedlot with his dad.

He received the Outstanding Young Farmer award in 1972. In 1973, The Nebraska Jaycees awarded him the Outstanding Young Farmer Service Award. In 1976-1977 he was chosen Who's Who in Nebraska. He was also a Furnas County Livestock Feeders member and past president, a charter member of Nebraska and National Cattlemen's Association. He was awarded an honorary FFA Chapter Degree, as a Furnas County 4-H Council member, he was also club and project leader for the Arapahoe Baby Beef for many years. He was past officer of Tri-State Livestock in McCook, of Security State Bank in Holbrook and past board member of Arapahoe Co-op. He was awarded 50 years continuous Grange membership, was a member of Edison American Legion Post 343, served in color guard for funerals and parades and a was member of First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Austin Anderson.

He is survived by wife of 55 years, Leora Anderson of Arapahoe; children, John David "JD" and wife, Linda Anderson, Jason and wife, Lisa Anderson and JoDee and husband, John Walbridge, all of Arapahoe, Janell and husband Leon Ehrke of Orleans, Nebraska; sister, Beverly Grady of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother-in-law, LeMoine and wife Agnes Knosp of Palisade, Nebraska, and 11 grandchildren.

Celebration of life will be Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Becky Saddler officiating. Interment will be in the Arapahoe Cemetery with military rites given by the American Legion Post No. 343 of Edison, Nebraska.

Viewing and visitation is Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the services at the church.

Memorials will be designated later by the family.
