McCOOK, Nebraska -- Daniel Lee Trehal, age 35, of McCook, died at his home on Aug. 3, 2013.

He was born in McCook on March 1, 1978, to Michael and Linda (Hiatt) Trehal. Daniel attended school in McCook and Vermillion, South Dakota.

Dan was a self-employed contractor, doing mostly carpet and tile work in the area for many of the carpet stores throughout Southwest Nebraska. He was a good Samaritan, always looking for ways to help other people.

He enjoyed the outdoors, such as hunting and fishing. Dan enjoyed family and friends just spending time together. He was known for his cooking ability, especially with his smoker with turkey and his green chili recipes. Dan was attending Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witness.

Dan was preceded by his grandparents.

Dan is survived by his two sons, Tyler Gray and Dylen Trehal of McCook; mother, Linda Trehal; father, Mike and wife, Sue Trehal of Corpus Christi, Texas; sister, Naomi Trehal of Corpus Christi, Texas and brother, Nathan Trehal of McCook.

Funeral services are Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be left at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in Dan's name, for an educational fund for his two sons.
