OMAHA, Nebraska -- Eleanore Mae Farstveet Ward, 90, of Omaha, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at the University Medical Center in Omaha,

She was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Missoula, Montana, to Elsie M. (Geyer) and Knute K. Farstveet. She graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota with a Bachelor's degree in home economics education. She taught at several locations, includng Hawaii and the Panama Canal Zone.

She married Vernon G. Ward on Aug 28, 1952, in Beach, North Dakota.

She served as an officer in several organizations, including the American Association of University Women, Omaha Women's Club, Buffalo County (Nebraska) Medical Auxiliary and Omaha Medical Auxiliary.

Surviviors include her husband, Dr. Vernon G. Ward and three children, Margo, Allison and Barry, all of Omaha; two sisters, Marjorie (Richard) Mosser and Sharon Dietz, both of Beach, North Dakota; five brothers, Alvin (Marjorie) Farstveet of Beach, Ellef Farstveet of Auroa, Colorado, Gary (Marjorie) Farstveet of Beach, North Dakota, Rex Farstveet (Myrna) of Dickinson, North Dakota, Craig Farstveet of Winnemucca, Nevada, plus additional relatives and freinds.

She was preceded in death by one son, Scott Ward; and two brothers, Knute G. Farstveet and Keith Farstveet.

Graveside services are 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at the Palisade Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha.
