Cathy Malleck Warner

McCOOK, Nebraska -- Cathy Malleck Warner passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2013, at Hillcrest Nursing Home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 62 years old.

Cathy was born on May 8, 1951, at McCook to Lester "Bum" and Wanda (Kelly) Malleck. She graduated from Indianola High School in 1969. She continued her education at McCook Community College where she received her Associates Degree.

Cathy was united in marriage to Marion Warner in July of 1969. Her hobbies at a young age included water skiing, camping, and spending time with the family at the lake. She loved trap shooting and was a member of Lebanon Gun Club.

She was an avid reader and artist. Her love for Southwest motif often inspired her designs on bones. That desire of Southwest eventually led Cathy to open South of The Border Boutique in Lebanon. Cathy also worked for Red Willow Aviation where she was a bookkeeper and office manager for the past several years. She cherished her pets which included canines Nikki and Tinker and felines Snickers, Toby and Tansy.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Bum and Wanda Malleck; and two uncles, Alfred Malleck and Harry Uerling.

Survivors include her siblings, Griff Malleck and wife, Vickie, of McCook, David Malleck and wife, Meredith, of Dallas, Texas and Pamela and husband, Ray Nokes of McCook; two aunts, Faye Marie Uerling of Loveland, Colorado, and Peggy Malleck of Brighton, Colorado; and nieces and nephews, Jeff and Brooke Hager, Sloan and Gray Malleck and Garrett and Justen Nokes.

Memorials may be given in her name to the McCook Humane Society.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, 10:30 a.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Indianola.
