CAMBRIDGE, NEBRASKA --Mildred J. (Moore) Downing passed away on July 30, 2013, at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital at the age of 93. Mildred was born to Earl and Grace (Winsor) Smith on Feb. 22, 1920, in Ord, Nebraska. She graduated from Ord High School.

Mildred married Alfred Moore on Oct. 14, 1943. During their marriage they owned Moore Appliance in Cambridge and a motel in Altus, Oklahoma. After Alfred's passing in 1970, she owned the Knit 'n' Sew Fabric store in Cambridge. Her favorite times were spent with music, knitting and sewing.

On Jan. 15, 1988, Mildred married Arthur Downing. They spent many years in Arizona before returning to Nebraska.

Mildred was preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred; her parents and three brothers, Carl, Dale and Lyle Smith and son-in-law, John Johnson.

Mildred is survived by her husband, Arthur Downing of Cambridge; three daughters, Miriam (Joe) Thompson of Lethbridge, Alberta, Colleen Johnson of Cambridge and Ilene (Steve) Skinner of Saddlebrook, Arizona; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren,

Graveside serices will be Thursday, Aug. 1 with Bill Weaver officiating. Burial will be at the Cambridge Fairview Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Cambridge Fairveiw Cemetery.
