Letter to the Editor

No, not now, not ever

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

Dear Editor,

In January 2014, just six months from now, the most agonizing provisions of Obamacare will kick in and along with it the Medicare rationing board and massive tax increases.

Obamacare was supposed to cost $1 trillion, but it has already jumped to $2 trillion with no end in sight. It will be accompanied by the largest tax increase in American history.

Obamacare will eat Medicare funds at the rate of $500 billion a year. Medicare payments will drop to a level of one-third of that paid by private insurance. Doctors who presently accept Medicare will flee the medical profession in droves or simply drop Medicare patients in order to stay in business. AS a result, Obamacare would be disastrous to the medical wellbeing of seniors.

The Medicare rationing board would decide the fate of retirement-age citizens.

I have seen it in print that those over 70 years of age with a cancer diagnosis will be given end of age counseling and hospice services instead of treatment. The value of human life will be age related

Obamacare will cause increased unemployment because small businessmen will not be able to afford to hire workers because the cost of health insurance for employees will go up appreciatively and they will be forced to comply with thousands of pages of new regulations.

Compliance will take them away from more essential tasks and/or cost them dearly to hire someone to attempt to unravel unending miles of red tape.

Many of our citizens are struggling just to keep a roof over their family's heads and food on the table. Massive tax increases and additional unemployment could put us on the slippery slope toward becoming a welfare nation. We have heard very little about unemployment and underemployment lately. That doesn't mean it's gone away.

Take heart. There is legislation proposed to defund, dismantle and delay implementation of Obamacare. But, you won't hear about it on the six o'clock news.

Right now, there is bipartisan legislation pending in the House of Representatives called the "Protecting Seniors' Access to Medicare Act" (HR 351) that would repeal the Medicare rationing board and defund some of Obamacare's massive tax increases.

Obamacare includes a "Medical Device Tax" that would reduce the innovation of life-saving technologies and research on treatments that could save your life or the life of a loved one. These people doing life-saving research would lose their jobs. I have a personal interest in this issue, because I don't want to lose my sons to the genetic disease that took the life of my husband just one year ago.

There is another bipartisan bill in the U.S. Senate that would repeal the "medical device." There is also new legislation to prohibit the corrupt IRS from overseeing Obamacare. Talk about the "worst case scenario."

The Conservative Caucus -- TCC -- is spearheading a massive ground roots national campaign to create overwhelming public pressure on Congress to vote for these legislative efforts to defund and dismantle Obamacare piece-by-piece until it falls like a house of cards.

Call your representatives and senators by dialing their switchboard at (202) 224-3121.

To help fund TCC's efforts to put ballots in the hands of Americans, across the nation that will be delivered to lawmakers in Washington D.C., asking them to pass legislation to dismantle and defund Obamacare, send a check to the Conservative Causus, P.O. Box 1890, Merrifield, VA 22116-8090.

Letters to constituents is one of the few means conservatives have to tell us what is going on.

Janine Hall,

McCook, Nebraska

  • A good percentage of people support obamacare. The source of this support is no doubt the same groups that elected obama. There is nothing wrong with national healthcare - almost all the countries in "THE WEST" have it. But, it may not be successful in the USA. It will take a few years - maybe as many as 8 or so - to see how it goes. The support is there - the idea is good - the implementation may sink it. That does not mean that the USA will sink along with it.

  • Janine,

So sorry to hear about the loss of your husband to a genetic disease, and your worry about your sons suffering the same in years to come.

I do believe your concerns are addressed under the pre-existing clause portion of the ACA, which prevents discrimination based on existing health conditions as a reason to deny healthcare coverage. You might want to check into this Janine, your sons may be covered - including screening.

I don't think there is a connection between the ACA and how/what research and development in the health field is undertaken. In fact, Representative Smith was a staunch supporter of extending the research and development tax credits. Ask him what companies are utilizing the tax credit in the healthcare field - put a bug in his ear.

We live in a small town and my wife works in a business that employs high school and college aged students for the summer. Three of the college aged students are covered under their parents insurance plan, until they reach 26 years of age. This is part of the ACA and has become a very popular benefit, reducing the costs for parents and students.

I personally know many senior aged folks that are also benefitting from the ACA. I also have known many, many people that would probably still be around if the ACA had been available to them.

Take a trip to the senior center and ask the folks if they have used any of the programs of the ACA? I think you will be suprised Janine.

    Take care of yourself
