ATWOOD, Kansas-- Emma L. Sattler, 78, died Sunday (July 21, 2013), at Atwood Good Samaritan Center in Atwood.

She was born Dec. 31, 1934, to John and Emma Keplinger Huss on a farm west of Herndon, Kansas. She was raised on the John Huss farmstead five miles west of Herndon. She attended one year of country school, St. Mary's grade school and Herndon High School.

She married Kenneth Sattler Nov. 16, 1957, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Herndon. She was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Sattler; three brothers, Larry Huss, Donald Huss and John Huss; and infant sister, Marian Huss.

Survivors include children, John Sattler of Wichita, Kansas, Troy Sattler and wife, LeeAnn of Herndon and Terri Dechant and husband, Donnie of LaSalle, Colorado; sisters, Madonna Anderson of Gem, Kansas, Celene Dunker of Ludell, Kansas and Joanne Malone of Russell, Kansas; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, July 27, 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Nick Parker and Deacon Mark Vrbas officiating. Interment is at St. Mary's Cemetery in Herndon.

Vigil service is Friday, 7 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin, Kansas.

Visitation is Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday, from 8 a.m. to service time at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Herndon.

Memorials may be given in her name to Atwood Good Samaritan Center, Atwood, Catholic churches of Rawlins County and Hospice Services, Inc.
